I’d like to let DGH supporters know about a new book, Cross Cultural Doctoring. On and off the Beaten Path.
The author, Dr. William LeMaire, is an obstetrician/gynecologist who retired from academic medicine at age 55 and has spent much of his career in volunteer work in various parts of the world. I worked with Wim briefly in Hospital San Carlos in Chiapas, Mexico, and was impressed by his energy and ability to work cheerfully in challenging circumstances. I learned a lot more about his adventures reading his memoire.
He writes about his book: “The book is meant not only for medical professionals, but for anyone who may be thinking about doing something unorthodox and exciting at any stage of a career. It may possibly inspire others to write and publish their story.”
He has decided to offer the book for free as an e-book. To learn more about it and download it you can go to his website at http://www.freewebs.com/wimsbook/.
He is asking that those who download the book consider making a donation to Hospital San Carlos. Instructions on how to do that are on the web page where you download the e-book.
